The (un) cruel shoes.. ('and now for something completely different!)

Charcoal on smooth newsprint.   about 11 x 14" - I found these at the Angel Island Flea Market. they look quite old and are nicely smashed and beaten.  (Child's shoes from the 1940's and 50's possibely earlier)  3 Dollars after much negotiation.. a study for a still life painting..

some recent studies in charcoal:

Don Knotts, Joe Don Baker, Harlan Williams and Jason Stathan.  For an assignment where clear character was required to be illustrated ( for Glen Orbik's class).

Above - design and edge study for G.O.

A quick charcoal portrait of Sophie Kramer-Dahlin

hey nice shiuz! dude i remember what you said about the scale thing and i just thought adding an object to give the viewer a sense of scale might be good, cos i was wondering how people who paint small things that arent suppose to be small show its small, and juxtaposing scale was the most common. so yea maybe something to consider

Thank you kind people. Lars I will check out your blog.

Hiroshi, you are right for sure - but this is only a study of one component for a larger painting. I guess I liked it enough to show ?

I think I have asked that before, so I apologize for insisting , which class is that? Where is it held? Thanks a lot

Thanks Kevin. Did you use to draw when working at Microsoft? or when you were younger? Quite impressive

Rani, I started drawing from life in 2007. I drew a lot from the imagination as a kid and made my own comic books; my Mom is an artist so the influences were floating around and there I guess! there was a 25 year gap between or so.. - kevin
